Alisa Steady is an art rockstar

Fridays rock in my book so I felt like we should have a rockstar artist for todays feature.

Alisa's tagline on her website is "Mouthwatering art." That couldn't be more accurate. Those of you who know me personally know how I feel about color. I can't live without it! Living without color is like living without air. Alisa gave me a huge boost of O2 because her work is going to keep my color fix going for a while.

Not only is her work whimsically gorgeous, after an email exchange with Alisa I can tell she's got the dynamic personality to match. Her website makes you feel as if your an old friend just catching up on Alisa and her work. She states on her site that she's happiest when she's creating. Well, Alisa you must me one happy lady and I do believe your happiness is spilling over to all who experience your work.

"Alisa Steady was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and grew up in a northern suburb of Chicago. She is a member of a creative family of writers, actors, and visual artists. Today she is a professional artist and writer. Her artwork has been published, and is collected by fans all over the world."

Indulge yourself. You made it through the week, it's Friday and you've earned it! Click over to her Alisa's website http://www.alisasteadyart.com

There you will find links to her blog, gallery and Etsy shop and temptation will bite you in the...
As a matter of fact, Alisa is running a half off special on her Halloween items until October 31st. Friday keeps getting better.

Glitter in all it's glory

We went for it. That's for sure.

I have a love/hate relationship with glitter. How can you not love the way it sparkles and shines...on everything. Literally, everything.

I woke up this morning with lovely accents of orange, silver and black glitter on my hair, cheeks and arms. I'm sure I sent the girls to school looking as if they were ready to dress up for Halloween on October 9th.

After a jaunt to the park last night, the smoky, fall smell of a campfire and the crisp, cool temperature inspired us to work on our pumpkins. Paintbrushes, Modge Podge and glitter were present and artfully used by all.

So interesting to watch the girls last night. Each time they create it re-affirms what I already know.

Cate likes to get her hands dirty. It's not good enough to use a little bit of glitter. Why not the whole bottle! Cate is inspired by Jackson Pollock and her enthusiasm for his style is always apparent in her work.

Ava, on the other hand, had a clean workstation with all of her "tools" lined up appropriately. She tried to convince Cate to use the "pinch" technique which focuses on the minimal use of glitter but Cate wasn't going for it. Ava always inspired by the clean lines like her favorite artist Dali.

So today, after looking at the pile of glitter that needs to be cleaned, I whisper to myself "I will never use glitter again." But I know I'm just lying to myself. Until the next time...
